ABOUT US

SOCIETY FOR ANIMAL SAFETY (SAS, India) founded by Nitesh Khare, works in Pune and nearby areas to educate the public in the compassionate and humane treatment of all animals. Sound scientific evidence forms the basis for our decision-making and determines the course of our rescue operations. In all that we do and we aim to find practical solutions that benefit both animals and people. We also work with other like-minded organizations and government departments to strengthen legislation to protect animals from cruelty and neglect. Our work connects animal welfare and conservation, demonstrating that healthy populations, naturally sustaining habitats and the welfare of individual animals are intertwined. We work closely with communities to find solutions that benefit both animals and people. | SOCIETY FOR ANIMAL SAFETY

Our Vision and Mission

In order to achieve SAS India vision of a world where animals are respected and protected, we follow key principles in our hands-on projects with animals and in our advocacy work to secure better animal welfare protection in policy, legislation and society:

Recognition

It should be recognized that animals have intrinsic value and are sentient beings.

Policy

Policy should be based on sound science within an ethical framework for animals.

Conservation

Conservation decisions should be guided by ecological sustainability and biological sustainability, the precautionary principle within an ethical framework for animals.

Message from Nitesh Khare

Animals are important for our environment ecosystem. Every little animal within the ecosystem has a vital role in the well-being of the planet. If one species is rendered extinct due to some imbalance, it can have significant cascading effects throughout the rest of the chain. Animals holds the equal right to be respected in the community because they are the most selfless creatures in the Planet. Let’s join our hands together and move towards a better society where animals and humans are treated respectfully and we have a crime free country setting a benchmark for others. | SAS |SOCIETY FOR ANIMAL SAFETY
